Information around the Where Everybody Belongs (WEB) Program
WEB stands for “Where Everybody Belongs”. This is a dynamic middle school orientation and transition program that welcomes Grade 6’s and strives to help them feel comfortable throughout their first year of middle school. WEB is built on the belief that students can help students succeed. The program trains Grade 8’s to become WEB mentors who will foster positive connections with new Grade 6s. As supportive role models, WEB mentors guide the Grade 6’s to discover what it takes to be successful during the transition to middle school and help facilitate Grade 6 sense of belonging and success.
Due to COVID….
As we move forward in planning for another incredible year at YCMS, we are all continually adapting to new protocols! Recently, in discussion with other middle schools, it was decided to postpone our traditional WEB Mentor Summer Training. We will absolutely be working alongside our phenomenal group of Grade 8’s who’ve successfully applied and been selected as WEB Mentors; it will just look a little different than in years past.
For now, know that administrators and staff leadership teams are still very excited about the potential our WEB Mentor students hold to support our new Grade 6’s! We will be keeping in touch with you all in the coming weeks to let you know more about what this will look like. Heartfelt thanks for your patience and support.
Enjoy these beautiful summer days,
YCMS WEB Team
